ZIMBABWE – PRIME Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is expected to leave for Botswana today on a two-day working visit where he will apprise President Ian Khama and other stakeholders on issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Tsvangirai will leave with officials and/or ministers from different portfolios, among them Finance, Home Affairs, Agriculture, Water and Transport.

“They will discuss matters of mutual interest and follow up on agreements that the two governments signed last year. They will review the implementation of agreements on the control of foot-and-mouth disease,” said Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka.

Tamborinyoka said the Premier would discuss the tripartite agreement between Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique on the Mmamabaka-Mulambaphele border post to build a rail link and port for transportation of coal and other commodities to Eastern markets.

He added that Tsvangirai would table the possibility of a joint water project along the countries’ common borders.

“This is a key issue given the scarcity of water in Bulawayo and Francistown. The PM will meet President Khama tomorrow (today),” Tamborinyoka said.
