ZIMBABWE – A Kuwadzana man was dragged to court for not taking care of his child.
Philip Muchemwa, 33, pleaded guilty before Mbare magistrate Kudzai Zihove charged with default to maintenance
The State led by Bruce Mukwende proved that Muchemwa was ordered to pay US$460 before November 30, failure to do so will send him to jail for three months.
On November 17 2014 Muchemwa was ordered by the Harare Civil Court to deliver US$60 to Sheila Manyika, 32,.
Muchemwa is said to have defaulted paying maintenance in December 2014 to July this year.
Manyika lodged a complaint with the police after Muchemwa was nowhere to be found to provide for his child.
Muchemwa told that he defaulted to paying maintenance because he did not have any source of income to provide the money.
