ZIMBABWE – A pregnant city woman was humiliated at the domestic violence court when her husband called her a cheat living the podium in stitches.
Catlin Fungai was pleading for a protection order against her husband Brighton Chatora, who she accused of insulting and assaulting despite that she is carrying his child.
“My husband insults and assaults me all the time and he always come back home drunk.
“He beats me in the presence of our house-maid and does not care who is watching.
“Brighton locks me in our bedroom when I try to escape his fights,” she said.
In response, Brighton admitted his actions to have been provoked her wife having extra marital affairs.
“I was pissed off by her unfaithfulness, so the beatings and insults are sort of a revenge.
“She answers me with roughly on top of her voice, this developed more when she got pregnant and it annoys me,” he said.
The presiding magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa granted the protection order in favour of Catlin.
