ZIMBABWE – A foreign national whose passport was reportedly fraudulently endorsed with a re-entry visa by Zimbabwe Immigration Authority principal officer visited the country on a blind date.
Lutter Claudia, believed to be a Deutsch citizen, is alleged to have entered into the country with intention to meet one Kim Bikertfort on a blind date.
This emerged at the Harare magistrate court where Lutter Claudia is answering to charges of being ‘found in possession of or use a permit or travel document or any other certificate or document which she is not entitled to’.
She was arrested after immigration officers picked her at No. 32 Coghlan Road Greendale, Kamfinsa in Harare where she was staying.
It was when the official discovered that there were two Zimbabwe immigration date stamps which showed that she had used the same travelling document on February 14 2013 as a re-entry Zimbabwean permanent resident.
Investigations revealed that immigration principal officer Sharon Chinoputsa had fraudulently endorsed the re-entry visa.
Chinoputsa was arrested and she is also appearing in court for abusing his office.
Lutter Claudius denied the charges when she appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe.
The 57-year-old is expected to be back in court on January 26 when she is expected to give her defense.
State counsel Francesca Mukumbiri alleges that July 25 this year Claudia was at No.32 Coghlan Road Greendale, Kamfinsa in Harare when she was picked by immigration officials for questioning.
Immigration officials asked her to produce her particulars.
Reports are that on Page 6 of her passport, there were two Zimbabwe immigration date stamps which showed that she used the same travelling document on February 14, 2013 as a re-entry Zimbabwean permanent resident.
It is said that records at Immigration Headquarters indicated that Claudia first came to Zimbabwe on July 8 1994 on holiday and returned after two months.
Investigations also showed that Claudia never applied for a permanent residence to the Chief Immigration Officer.
She was arrested and taken to court.
