ZIMBABWE – A 40-year man has been fined for assaulting his ex wife for packing her belongings after they decided to end their marriage.
Justin Nyamaharo had denied the allegations when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo charged with physical abuse.
He was found guilty after trial sessions.
Nyamaharo was initially sentenced to two months which were wholly suspended on the payment of a US$50 fine.
The court heard that the couple had been having marital problems for a long time and they decided to end their marriage.
On December 1, Brenda Makanyanya, 37, decided to pack her belongings and move out of the house.
As Brenda was trying to pack her belongings into the car she had hired Nyamaharo assaulted her.
Nyamaharo punched and floored Brenda, when Brenda tried to stand up and escape he held her back and twisted her arm till she managed to fight him off and fled.
Brenda went and reported what had happened leading to Nyamaharo’s arrest.
