A disco supplier is in a maintenance wrangle with his former wife who is claiming US$250 for the upkeep of their three year old child.
This came to light when Mitchell Tandara told the court that Obey Chitsamba was neglecting his duties as a father to provide for his child.
“When I left our matrimonial home, Obey stopped taking care of our child.
“I have tried countless times to make him responsible but he has chosen to ignore my plea.
“I hope that the move I have made to come to this court will make him see some light,” she said.
In response Obey said:
“I can only offer to give her $45 because I am not formerly employed.
“At least she is a cross boarder trader she is capable of taking care of the child, after all it is our child I did not bring her in the world alone.”
Magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza, who presided over the matter ordered, Obey to pay $70 beginning January 30.
