ZIMBABWE – A Glen View landlady reportedly bashed and pulled her tenant’s braids accusing her of blocking her sink and not performing her duties well.
Florence Muchenje, 43, is said to have confronted her tenant Chipo Chitiyo at the gate when she returned home from work.
Muchenje asked Chitiyo to unblock the sink that she had left clogged in the morning and this sparked a heated argument between the two.
Chitiyo was denying responsibility and she counter accused Chitiyo of being jealous of her achievements.
At the height of the argument Muchenje allegedly slapped Chitiyo, punched her on the face and pulled her braids.
Chitiyo lost a patch of her hair and was left suffering from a headache.
She sought medical attention and then lodged a complaint with the police leading to Muchenje’s arrest.
Muchenje appeared before Mbare magistrate Anita Tshuma facing assault charges.
She denied the allegations arguing that she did not attack Chitiyo as alleged.
Muchenje pointed out that Chitiyo provoked her, they fought and it is unfortunate that she (Chitiyo) was over powered.
Magistrate Tshuma remanded Muchenje out of custody with warnings not to interfere with the witnesses to this matter and to reside at her given address until February 8.
The State led by Tafara Chirambira alleges that on January 23 at around 5pm Muchenje had a misunderstanding with her tenant Chitiyo over a blocked sink.
Muchenje is alleged to have assaulted Chitiyo and left her suffering from a headache.
