ZIMBABWE – Japhet Ngwenya said Lendsyl Mutyambizi was using the courts to make his life difficult by claiming maintenance.
“I love my wife and need my family back home.
“She ran away from home after I came home drunk and vomited on the carpet.
“If she wants money I will give her US$70, although she should have consulted me first before coming to court.
“Lendsyl should come back home and I will wash the carpet if it pleases her,” said Japhet.
Lendsyl was claiming US$200 from Japhet for the upkeep of their two minor children.
“I left my matrimonial home because Japhet is an irresponsible father who does not take care of his family.
“Right now I am five months pregnant but he is not doing anything to prepare for the child’s arrival.
“I do not regret my decision of coming to court because the money will provide for our children’s upkeep,” said Lendsyl.
Magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza, who presided over the matter, ordered Japhet to pay US$160 beginning February 28.
