ZIMBABWE-HARARE-Cuthbert Dube- he of the professional approach to football- held his first Zifa Board meeting at his house Zimdaily understands.
Dube inherited a Board which owes hotels in Harare over US$300 000 in unpaid hire fees.
The decision to hold a Board meeting at his home has raised questions about Dube’s strategy and state of health.
The chairman was out of the country on “personal business” until last week and this decision has brought to the fore a concern that was raised in some quarters before the elections: would he be able to handle the daily stress of a Zifa hell-bent on internally combusting at every opportunity.
The Board met for 8 hours at Dube’s upmarket house and the Board members only left at 3am on Saturday.
Football fans have reacted with shock to the news.
“Zifa has an office at 53 Livingstone Avenue. They have a Zifa village in Mt Hampden, ye they go and have a Board meeting at a member’s house.
“They should hold meetings at their own centres so they can see what needs to be done, instead of relaxing in the borrowed surroundings of Dube’s home.
“What was Dube thinking?” wondered a fan at the Dynamos- CAPS Utd game.
“Even the most vilified Zifa leaders like Leo Mugabe and Rafik Khan never held meetings at their houses or even at their offices.
“This is very bad for football. What is this now? Does he think this is Buymore FC? Mr Dube needs to get his act together quickly or else he is going to join a long scrap heap of Zifa leaders,” fumed another fan.

There is nothing sinster with holding a meeting @ his house!Zifa has no money to pay bills, what if the Zifa offices have no electricity!Besides who stands much to lose,Sarah Ncube has absolutely nothing to write about! From the looks of it,You are very ill informed therefore you are quick to turn something positive to nagative.Get a life.
Curthbet Dube is a Professional man, He is the MD of Premier Medical Aid Society, a Company that he has turned aroundd to be one of the success stories of commercialised ex public enterprises. There is a reason as to why that was done. Ko kana kuZIFA office kusina magetsi or maTOILET akafa. Health & Safety laws anorambidza kushandisa Office yakadaro. Zifa is broke what he do. Yes he has a nice house ine mafcility akanaka kuunganidza ZIFA BOARD members
For your information, Dube is not a professional man. He is a corrupt man! Ask PSMAS insiders who paid for renovations of his Waterfalls house; who bought the mansion where the meeting was held? Dube has a daughter: ask who is her employer and in what capacity? His daughter works for PSMAS as a Manager reporting to CEO. Yes straight from Australia to a position reporting to your father. And the Margaret Gumbos of the Jonah Moyo fame! He did not turn around PSMAS as it were; he is part of the Zim rot; He used his persuadive skills to get billions from Gvt. Thats why at one time a messenger at PSMAS earned more than a permanent secretary in gvt.
Zvakaipei? Ko kana maTOILETS asiri kushanda, Health & Safety Laws inobvumira here? Curthbet is a successful man in the Corporate World, akafunda & runs the biggest Medical AID Society in Zim which he successfully turned around into a profit making commercial entity. Its a success story of one of the public enterprises in Zim that was turned around
ZIFA from time of immemorial has always had problems. Its not Curthbet's fault. What can he do, after inheriting a broke Asosciation, Vanomuziva Curthbet is a good leader in the Corporate World. Akaita basa kuunganidza Board kumba kwake rather piling up debts mumahotera
