ZIMBABWE - HARARE - The Bush administration is imposing financial sanctions on four people it calls "cronies" of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe whose support it says allowed Mugabe to undermine democracy.

Matibili's Buddy - John Bredenkamp
The Treasury Department said in a statement Tuesday that it was designating John Bredenkamp for using a "sophisticated web of companies" to prop up Mugabe's government financially.
Treasury also designated Muller Conrad Rautenbach, a Zimbabwean businessman; Nalinee Joy Taveesin, a Thai businesswoman; and Mahmood Awang Kechik, a Malaysian urologist.
Any bank accounts or other financial assets belonging to those designated and found in the United States must be frozen under the order.
Americans also are prohibited from transacting business with them.
