Chipanga recently released a controversial album that has seen his music hitting airwaves for a little while before being pulled off air.

Freedom of expression is questioned here and it clearly shows that Zanu-PF still wholly controls state controlled media.

The album is called Hero Shoko and is laden with messages that attack Zanu-PF regime.

Chipanga was chased away from Mutare by Zanu-PF official Esau Mupfumi after a surprise song on President Mugabe's birthday that denounced public officials who misused their positions of trust.

The song goes "VaMugabe vane munyama kupiwa mhosva isiri yavo.

Shuga waitengesa kuMozambique wakanga watumwa nani."

Mupfumi is known to smuggle basic and scarce commodities to Mozambique for resale.

In the latest development Radio Zimbabwe (formerly Radio 2) has banned Chipanga's Hero Shoko.

As you enter ZBC Radio Zimbabwe's studios you are welcomed with posters written "Hosiah Chipanga's Music Prohibited ".

This reminds DJs to censor themselves.

Chipanga is the third victim of circumstances after Leonard Zhakata and Thomas Mapfumo whose catalogues are not wholly given airplay.

In one of the songs called Baba Nkomo, Chipanga questions the criteria used not to accord Ndabaningi Sithole, James Chikerema and Canaan Banana hero statuses when they died yet they were at the fore during the liberation struggle.

He sings, "Baba Nkomo vandibvunza kuti zvamandiita gamba, koNdabaningi aripi. "VaChitepo vandibvunza kuti zvamandiita gamba, koBanana aripi.

"Rekayi Tangwena andibvunza kuti zvamandiita gamba, koChikerema aripi."

The other controversial song attacking Zanu-PF is Nhunzi Nechironda where Chipanga questions the time spent by a person chasing away flies rather than treating the wound.

It goes, "Takapedza nguva tichidzinga nhunzi chironda chichikura ikezvino hachicharapiki." It means Zanu-PF spent unnecessary time on petty issues rather than making an overhaul of its leadership (wound).
