Youths Minister Savior Kasukuwere (right) chats to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai at the ILO day last month
ZIMBABWE - HARARE – Robert Mugabe was split in between as Rugare Gumbo openly attacked the president’s nephew Savior Kasukuwere at a Zanu (PF) politburo meeting on last Wednesday.

Rugare Gumbo
Gumbo spit venom during an argument centered on the Zanu (PF) succession race.
The thorny succession issue has once again triggered a fierce debate within Zanu-PF with hardliners opting for Mugabe's preferred successor Emmmerson Mnangagwa (who wont stand a slight chance in an election against firebrand MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai) and moderates calling for a less controversial figure who can unite both the party and country.
Ironically, the moderates have put their weight behind central bank governor, Gono (a member of the Mnangagwa faction) they believe is 'young' and reasonable after managing to keep everyone in Zanu happy for years.
A source that attended the meeting told of an angry Rugare Gumbo a key member of the Mnangagwa faction speaking without fear in a manner that undermined Kasukuwere in the presence of his uncle.
“Gumbo told Kasukuwere to shut the f****k up because he was nothing but a beneficiary of Zanu (PF) system that he (Gumbo) helped to build.
Infact he actually said that he has been with Mugabe way before Kasukuwere was even born,” said the source.
Kasukuwere is the youngest key player involved in Zanu (PF) power struggles.
His claim to fame unlike most Zanu (PF) members is by relation and not struggle credentials.
Sources in the know say that Gumbo does not like Kasukuwere because his arrogance owing to being a relative of the president has got him unnecessary attention as if he is a “big wig” in the party.

“When all this was happening the president was silent, it is a good strategy because it shifts attention from him.
What annoys Gumbo is that Kasukuwere is in a phenomenal rise that he (Gumbo) feels is unnecessary.”
The outburst between the two was the key clash between the two main factions in the party wrestling for the top job.

JOKE OF THE DAY - Grace Mugabe holding a baby walks into a drug store and asks the clerk if she can use the store's baby scale. "Sorry, ma'am," says the clerk. "Our baby scale is broken.
But we can figure the baby's weight if we weigh mother and baby together on the adult scale, and then weigh the mother alone, and subtract the second number from the first."
"Oh, that won't work," says Grace.
"Why not?" asks the clerk.
"Because," she answers, "I'm not the mother - I'm the aunt.""
