ZIMBABWE - HARARE – The MDC-led Kadoma Town Council has approached the police to investigate a serious fraud case taking place within the council amid reporters top management is awarding themselves salaries of up to US$4000 per month.

Investigations carried out by the councillors last month revealed that senior management at the council were earning unapproved salaries of over US$3 600 twice a month.
The mismanagement of council funds has led to the deterioration of services in the town.
We do hereby report a case for investigations after some allegations of mismanagement of council funds by senior management staff.
“Therefore councillors, workers and residents call for an investigation into the matter and for law to take its course,” the council said in its letter to Kadoma Central police dated 28 September 2009.
The councillors and the workers council committee had agreed in March to pay workers allowances of between US$150 to US$200 for both employees and management.
However, last month the councillors were surprised to find that some senior management were earning salaries of US$3 600 twice a month.

The town clerk Malvern Dondo and his deputy Joel Madzivanyika are the highest paid among those who are earning these hefty unapproved salaries.
The councillors also want its Housing Department to be investigated for corruptly offering houses to themselves, relatives and friends.
One of the directors is said to own four houses in Mshumale suburb.
