HARARE — War veterans’ leader Jabulani Sibanda, taking a break from his “mission” in Matabeleland, claimed that as "war veterans our hands are clean," and instead laid the blame of the wave of maimings, killings, beheadings and torture that have rocked the country on activists of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
"War veterans are not a violent people; we are a peace loving people who generally follow the rule of the law in this country. Our mandate is simple. Our singular responsibility as an association is to educate the masses so that they will not be gullible to the opposition's propaganda.
We are determined to prevent the masses from giving in to hunger caused by sanctions and vote for MDC, like they did on March 29," he said, his chin freshly shaved.
"In fact, we are victims -- psychologically and physically -- of MDC violence promoted and sustained by American Ambassador to Zimbabwe James McGee, their self-proclaimed commander," he added, gesturing his arms in the air, palms open like that of a Jowani Masowe church elder in prayer.
It has become accepted truth and fact that, knowing that the elections were coming in Zimbabwe, George Bush, together with his adviser Gordon Brown, conspired together to send a commander to Zimbabwe in the guise of an Ambassador.
With his massive military experience fighting the Vietcong in Vietnam in the sixties, James McGee was the suitable, chosen candidate. His mission, according to War Veterans insiders, is to masquerade as a diplomat by day, but by night, be a commander of MDC activist working to remove Mugabe from power.
Jabulani Sibanda's comments came as the MDC revealed that more than 50 of its members have been cudgeled to death in cold blood by "ZANU-PF Activists"
"ZANU-PF Activists" is an umbrella term that bunches together militant-farm-invading-white-people-hating war veterans, green-camouflage-clad alumni of the Border Gezi Nation Service, gun-totting Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) personnel on “leave,” rogue baton-stick wielding Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers, jobo-jobo computer keyboard typing Zimbabwe Prison Service (ZPS) jail guards and black-sheds-black-suit-wearing-Mazda-B2200-unmarked-car-driving Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) operatives.
Jabulani Sibanda, chairman of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans' Association (ZNLWVA), who in recent months has had unrestricted access to Robert Mugabe's ear, visiting Mugabe at State House at all hours of the day to make reports, spoke barely a week when his deputy, Joseph Chinotimba, commanded a unit of “ZANU-PF Activists” that murdered Chokuse Mupango, the MDC chairman for Ward 26 in Mutiusinazita, Buhera South, Manicaland Province.
Mupango was the victim of a frenzied, fanatic attack by a group of "ZANU-PF Activists" who suddenly came upon him at his friend's home wielding whetted machetes, axes, adzes, pangas, that glinted menacingly in the noon sun, sledgehammers, a pistol, three ZNA issued AK-47 assault rifles, fan-belts, and other weapons the witnesses to the Chinotimba inspired murder could not easily identify. Unconfirmed reports indicates that one man in the group, believed to be Chinotimba’s field lieutenant, was carrying a rocket launcher.
Chinotimba has become the defacto Commander of all "ZANU-PF Activists" in Manicaland Province, while Jabulani Sibanda has been given the same role in Matebeleland Province.
Having failed to win the Buhera South seat through democratic means, through the ballot, Chinotimba's aides told ZimDaily that: "Our boss has been given the green light from vakuru ( = Chiwenga) to make sure that the whole of Manicaland Province votes 100% ZANU-PF in the run-off election on June 27."
Chinotimba's recent escapades at the head of a motley crew of ZANU-PF Activists, high on alcohol and ganja ( = mbanje, marijuana), indicates that Chinotimba intends to carry out the mission set for him by his superiors to the very end, leaving no room for error.
As Jabulani spoke, he now moving in a convoy that rivals that of Mugabe, his fleet of vehicles was parked in the parking lot outside ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare.
Awash in cash that Gideon Gono is obligated to send to ZANU-PF headquarters every Friday afternoon in an armored military personnel carrier, Jabulani was at ease in his office on the third floor.
"If you had a chance to see the MDC-T working document which puts it clearly that they want to eliminate, ideologically and physically, their opponents, surely you will then see who is responsible for the violence," he said, brandishing a copy of the said document (dismissed by the MDC as a forged document two days after it was "found" by a "reporter" from Herald).
He was, however, quick to remind voters of who to vote for in the run-off.
"Now each vote should be cast for Zanu-PF, for President Mugabe. He is the only representative of a sovereign Zimbabwe, a free people and, above all, to further the aims of our revolution and freedom for the people. Voting for President Mugabe will ensure the development of our health infrastructure, development of roads, education system and assurance of our food security," he said.
I wanted to remind Jabulani that why should the people vote for Mugabe when he is the one who destroyed the health infrastructure, education system, and the agriculture sector. Seeing as I was purporting to be a newly hired authentic graduate of Border Gezi's National Service, I could not blow my cover by asking such a question.
Just in case people had forgotten the position of who the War Vets had endorsed for president in the run-off election, Jabulani also said: "We need unity in the party among our membership, but the unity should be symbolised by the participation of each member on the ground. We support Mugabe"
Just to show that he has been reading writings by Mao, Jabulani lapsed into talking about the revolution: “War veterans are a serious people, serious to defend the revolution, sovereignty and independence. Revolutionaries must realise that people are an enough and complete resource to move forward with the revolution.
Any other material resource becomes an enabling factor. We are moving towards victory and looking forward for every Zimbabwean not only to pledge their votes but to cast them for the Zanu-PF candidate, President Mugabe, a revolutionary leader, visionary and person of impeccable integrity."
He took the opportunity to remind voters about Mugabe's past: "President Mugabe is a man who stands not only for the sovereignty of Zimbabwe but of other peoples all over the world. Voters should know that there are people who served time in prison for them to be able to vote and lives were sacrificed. People should know that it also means each vote is no longer secret, but a responsibility put in the hands of each Zimbabwean by pain and death so that we can preserve our being as blacks in our black Africa…"
