Zimbabwe suffered a double blow in the 21st over after Sibanda, who was playing so well hit one straight to Amit Mishra at short midwicket. Three balls later, Zimbabwe skipper Brendon Taylor was run-out after he wanted a non-existing single, came half way down the crease and Unadkat’s direct hit sent him back to the pavilion. Just 13 runs scored in the last five overs and Zimbabwe who were looking to chase down the score are now struggling.

India innings:
Over 50 || Score 294/8

That is an excellent effort keeping in mind they were reduced to 65/4 at one stage which was followed by a 167-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik. The last over will certainly give a lot of confidence to the Indian bowlers.

It hasn’t been a flawless innings from Shikhar Dhawan but riding on his luck today, Dhawan scored his fourth ODI ton. Zimbabwe were unlucky as they couldn’t hold on to some of the catches, and the only one they did was off a no-ball. Dhawan and Karthik added 167 runs for the fifth wicket before Dinesh Karthik was run-out. In the next over, Dhawan’s innings finally came to an end when he dragged a delivery onto the stumps. Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra are the two new players at the crease, looking to score some quick runs. 38 runs scored in the last five overs.

After 40 overs
India has started gaining the momentum now. Suddenly the Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan, has started scoring swiftly. In the 36th and 37th over Dhawan not only scored a few boundaries but even smashed an over- pitched ball out of the park. Dhawan is in 90’s now. By hitting a four of the last ball of 37th over Dinesh Karthik completed his half century. Now it’s time for Dhawan to hit another ton and take his total tally to four. In the first ball of the 40th over India crossed the mark of 200 runs. Now, runs are flowing for India, as both the batsmen in the middle are hitting boundaries on their will. By the end of 40th over India scored 211 with the loss of four wickets.
====================================================================================
After 35 overs
In the 27th over bowled by Chigumbura, Dhawan scored a boundary of the first ball by hitting it towards the square leg area to bring up his half-century. It’s a hard fought fifty for Dhawan. Karthik is also scoring runs quite easily and is not missing any opportunity to send the loose ball towards the boundary. Karthik has crossed the 30 runs mark and is playing smart cricket by taking singles and doubles and keeping the score board ticking. By the end of 30th over India has scored 135 runs for the loss of four wickets.
====================================================================================
After 30 overs
The partnership between Dhawan and Karthik has crossed the 100 runs mark. Zimbabwean skipper Brendan Taylor has reintroduced his strike bowler Jarvis in the 33rd over. It means the skipper needs a wicket now. By the end of 33rd over India crossed the 150 runs mark. Both the Indian batsmen have settled now but the Indian run rate is still under five. Now it’s time for them to accelerate a bit but without losing a wicket. By the end of 35th over India managed to score 159 runs for the loss of four wickets.

After 25 overs
Now Dhawan has started punishing the bad balls. The opener has scored three boundaries in the 23rd over bowled by Chatara. Shikhar Dhawan is reaching towards his half century and is just five runs away. On the other end Karthik is playing sensibly. They have to capitalize on this partnership and should stick to the crease for next 15 to 20 overs. And in the 25th over India crossed the 100 runs mark. By the end of 25th over, India have scored 106 runs with the loss of four wickets.
====================================================================================
After 20 overs
So far it’s a good toss to win for Zimbabwe. As in the 17th over T Chatara, gave Zimbabwe another breakthrough. And this time it was Suresh Raina. SK Raina c †Taylor b Chatara 4 (11b 0x4 0x6) Trying to flick ball towards the fine leg boundary Raina only managed to find the gloves of the wicketkeeper. India desperately need a partnership now. Dhawan is also living dangerously at the moment. Zimbabwean bowlers are looking lethal but they also need to stop giving extras. They have already given 13 extras so far. Now the onus is on Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik to build up a partnership. By the end of 20 overs India has scored 74 runs for the loss of four wickets.

After 10 overs
India lost the wicket of its skipper Virat Kohi in the seventh over. Kohli tried to play through the midwicket area but found the fielder who took a difficult catch. Umpires once again went up to the third umpire to check whether the fielder took a clean catch or not. And this time the decision went in favour of Zimbabwe. V Kohli c Waller b Jarvis 14 (18b 2×4 0x6) Kohli was shocked over the decision of third umpire and even argued with the field umpire before leaving the field.
Javris bowled another beauty in his fifth over when he bowled a full delivery and forced Dhawan to drive it and ended up inducing an edge but the wicketkeeper Taylor dropped a simple catch. First ten overs belong to the host team as they not only managed to stop the Indian batsmen from scoring freely but also took two crucial wickets. So by the end of 10th over, India has scored 44 runs.

After 5 overs
High drama so far. After an early wicket of Rohit Sharma, India almost lost its another opener Dhawan in the fourth over, when Jarvis’s ball managed to kiss the outside edge of Dhawan’s bat and caught by the slip fielder. But after checking with the third umpire, it was a foot no ball. Lucky Dhawan scored three boundaries in the same over. Zimbabwe has so far bowled well. And in first five overs India lost one wicket and scored 29 runs.
====================================================================================
First Indian run came from extras. India lost its first wicket. Rohit Sharma Out..trying to drive the ball between extra covers, Rohit only managed to get the outside edge in the second over of the innings. RG Sharma c Sibanda b Vitori 1 (7b 0x4 0x6)

It’s 100th ODI match for Indian opener Rohit Sharma. Let’s see whether he will manage to make it really special for him or not.
Overall, this newly formed Indian opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan has performed well. It’s another opportunity for them to give India a strong opening stand.
====================================================================================
Toss: Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to ball first. Taylor looked happy after winning it. First hour of the match would be crucial. Zimbabwe have done one change in the team — Brian Vitori comes in for Mutombodzi.
====================================================================================
After an expectedly comfortable win to start with, the young Indian team under Virat Kohli would look to continue asserting its supremacy over minnows Zimbabwe when the two sides clash in the second one-dayer of the ongoing five-match series here on Friday.
In a perfect start to the tour, India thrashed Zimbabwe by six wickets with Kohli leading from the front, scoring a hundred on Wednesday.
But the win was not without a few glitches with the inexperience of Indian bowlers exploited by a couple of Zimbabwean batsmen.
Sikander Raza nearly got a hundred while lower down the order Elton Chigumbura managed to torment the Indians for quite a while with a 34-ball 43 which included half a dozen boundaries.
In fact, India`s lead pacer R Vinay Kumar ended up conceding at a rate more than six in his nine overs. But on the brighter side, the rest of the attack made up for his off day with spinner Amit Mishra picking up three wickets in his 10 overs.
