Huawei strengthened its presence in the Zimbabwean smartphone market last year when it set-up a support centre for its smartphones and tablet gadgets in the country.

Now the company is seeking to bring its products to a wider market, in which it will compete against other brands such as Samsung, HTC, ZTE and Nokia.

Ngonidzashe Magwendeza, the company’s representative in Zimbabwe said Huawei will launch its “latest products and solutions” during a roadshow running from Monday to Thursday in Harare.

He said the roadshow launch will utilise “demonstrations and presentations” of the Chinese tech giant’s products. This is expected to have a speedy impact on the market.

Huawei smartphones and tablets are currently being distributed in Zimbabwe in partnership with Econet Wireless, the country’s biggest telco.

Huawei recently launched two new small tablets, the MediaPad X1 and M1 and the Ascend G6 smartphone. It has also unveiled last month, a smartband fitness tracker that can also be used as an earpiece as well as the Huawei E5786, a new high speed Wi-Fi device.

In 2013, the company officially launched the Ascend P6, the Ascend Mate, the Ascend G510 and other smartphones and tablets in Zimbabwe. IT Web Africa
