MATEBELELAND NORTH- Police arrested two individuals in Dete, Matebeleland North for impersonating police officers and ‘enforcing’ Covid-19 regulations while soliciting bribes from unsuspecting citizens.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the two were arrested at Lupote Business Center after a confrontation with one shop owner.
“The ZRP has arrested David Ndlovu (29) and Posent Nyathi (32) on 22/01/21, at Lupote Business Centre, Dete for impersonating police officers. The suspects went to the business centre clad in police uniform before enforcing COVID-19 regulations and accepting bribes from shop owners. An alert shop owner noticed an anomaly on their dressing and confronted them leading to their arrest and recovery of stolen property,” said Nyathi.
