HARARE – Patricia Timire, mother to three-year-old Tallia Kachuta, who appealed for assistance to fund the operation for Tallia, has expressed gratitude for the support the family received to ensure that her daughter undergoes the required operation.
The mother told Zimdaily that Tallia was now out of the theatre after receiving assistance to take her for the medical attention.
“Mwana akawana help, apo atobva mutheatre nhasi. Monditenderawo kune vose vakandibatsira.” (My baby got the assistance we needed. (In the picture) there she had just come out of theatre. Please pass my gratitude to all the people who helped us), she said.
The family had appealed for funding assistance so that Tallia could undergo a colostomy closure surgery costing US$7 200.
“Vaibvunza number ndotovaudza, vamwe vaisataura vaingokanda Mari vonyarara,” she added. (A lot of people would ask for the number and I would give them, but others just sent money without saying anything to me)
The young girl was born without an anal passage and has been using a hole drilled on her stomach for removing waste from the body.
The current operation was needed to cover the hole in the tummy. She underwent an operation to open up her anal passage, which had now healed, but could only function after the hole in the stomach had been closed.
