ZIMBABWE – Wenceslaus Dengedza asked Mbare magistrate Anita Tshuma to help him ask for forgiveness to his wife after they fought over a pillow.
“I ask the court to help me get my wife back home, I did not intend to beat her over such a petty issue, I got angry because I just wanted a pillow to lay my head on,” said Dengedza
Tatenda Mavhunga was against Dengedza’s plea and pleaded with the court to send Dengedza to jail, “it is my plea that you send this man to prison your worship, he is a trouble maker,” said Mavhunga
Dengedza pleaded guilty when he appeared before Ms Tshuma charged with physical abuse.
Dengedza will be back in court today for his sentence.
The state proved that Dengedza came home around 11pm after having drinks with his friends and Mavhunga opened the door for him.
When Dengedza went to bed Mavhunga took the only pillow the couple owned and went to sleep in another room.
Dengeza then followed Mavhunga to the next room and asked her to give him the blanket and pillow she had taken; he further insisted that she gives him a pillow.
When Mavhunga refused to give Dengedza the pillow he had asked for he turned violent, slapped and floored her.
Mavhunga managed to escape and lodged a complaint with the police leading to Dengedza’s arrest.
