HARARE – Nine people were today arrested as they attended MDC-Alliance’s Vice Chairman and Zengeza West MP, Job Sikhala’s bail ruling in court today.
These people are Dambudzo Mhike, Brian Mushakwe, Tenrence Manjengwa, Barnabas Gura, Blessed Changara, Dorothy Musungavarume, Richard Mangena, Last Mangena and Tafadzwa Mangoya.
They have not been formally charged but they will spend tbe night at Harare Central Police Station.
Sikhala has been denied bail and remanded to custody until 17 September. He is currently detained at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.
Sikhala has been arrested since 21 August on charges of inciting public violence for alleging recording videos which were in support of the planned 31 July anti-corruption demonstrations.
The demonstrations were however, thwarted through arrest of key organisers and supporters such as Jacob Ngarivhume and Hopewell Chin’ono while Sikhala was later arrested having gone in hiding for weeks.
