A serial house breaker will be spending 40months in prison after breaking into four houses before stealing household property valued at US$3 382.
Special Muzondo, 35, was initially sentenced to 57 months in prison for all the four counts of unlawful entry before 10 were suspended on condition of good behavior.
Of the remaining 47 months seven were set aside on condition of restitution and he will effectively serve the remaining 40.
Muzondo who is believed to have connived with his wife Memory Chibwana, had pleaded guilty to unlawful entry charges when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Bianca Makwande.
However Chibwana denied the allegations and she is awaiting her judgment today.
During the trial, She told the court that she did not know that her husband was stealing and that she never connived with him to break into the said houses.
“He told me that his clients had given him the goods as tokens of appreciation.” Said Chibwana.
The State led by Revai Mudozori proved that between August and October Special broke into four houses, three in Masasa Park and one in Hillside.
He did so by way of breaking doors and doors in order to gain entry.
Muzondo stole property worth US$3 382and police investigations led to the recovery of property worth US$3 102 from his place of residence.
The owners’ of the property managed to positively identify their property.
