ZIMBABWE – A Harare man was dragged to the civil court by his wife who is claiming a sum of $150 for the upkeep of their three minor children.
Vivian Lunga told the court that her husband Francis Moyo has refused to help her with their children’s needs.
“Francis is a truck driver but he spends his money on women and booze, but he refuses to give me money for our children.
“He comes home when he is broke; when he gets paid he does not come home.
“We can sometimes go for five months not knowing about his whereabouts and when he eventually shows up he will be broke.
In response Francis said:
“I am currently unemployed at the moment and I am able to $10 for each child.
“My wife is capable of taking care of our kids because she also takes care of me,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Barbra Mateko ordered Francis to pay $60 to Vivian beginning December 30.
