ZIMBABWE – A Chitungwiza businessman walked out of court a freeman after he was acquitted of fraud charges involving $1 700.
Bothwell Patsika was found not guilty when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Tafadzwa Miti over allegations of duping Kelvin Magusha US$1700.
This came after the State led by Edmund Ndambakuwa failed to prove a case against Bothwell.
It was the State’s case that June 3 this year around 12pm, Bothwell Patsika approached Kelvin Mugucha and told him that Nico Org, a fertilizer manufacturing company was borrowing money from individuals and would pay back with interest.
It was further alleged in court that Kelvin then gave Bothwell US$1700 and assured him that he would return the money with an interest of US$300 on July 1 2015.
After a while, Kelvin alleged that he went to the company and was told that the company was not borrowing individuals’ money.
Kelvin then lodged a complaint with the police and Bothwell was arrested.
