ZIMBABWE – Shelly Makanyisa who had been left in the custody of the matrimonial home in Budiriro is said to have damaged doors, window frames, locks, toilet system and geysers whilst her husband Clifford Nyanhongo was away.
She is alleged to have burned Nyonhongo’s clothes and documents that he had left locked in a room during separation.
Makanyisa denied the allegations when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Kudzai Zihove charged with unreasonable disposal of property.
She argued that she did not destroy the property but it was the children and other relatives that are responsible
She was remanded to January 13 for trial continuation.
Allegations are that the two separated in December 2012 after a misunderstanding and Nyanhongo moved out of the matrimonial home.
He left his clothes and particulars locked in a spare room.
However when he came back in 2014 his belongings were missing.
When he asked Makanyisa about it she denied responsibility.
He went away and came back in December 2015 and found his house in a sorry state with broken windows, doors, locks and a blocked toilet system.
When he asked his wife about it she shouted at him calling him a cheat.
That is when he lodged a complaint with the police leading to Makanyisa’s arrest.
