ZIMBABWE – A Budiriro couple has been dragged to court on allegations of assaulting their neighbour over a religious dispute.
Patricia Chaitezvi and Elphas Mandevani pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo charged with assault.
Chaitezvi and Mandevani will be back in court on December 28 for the continuation of their trial.
It is alleged that Molline Charimba’s house maid who is a congregant at PHD church was having a general discussion with Mandevani‘s family on PHD church operations.
Information passed during the discussion did not please Charimba’s maid who went on to pass the information to her employer.
Charimba is said to have decided to go and confront Chaitezvi and Mandevani on what they had been discussing.
Chaitezvi and Mandevani did not take well the way charamba confronted them and they turned violent, Mandevani is said to have slapped Chaitezvi whilst Chaitezvi picked and threw shoes at her.
Chaitezvi managed to flee and lodged a complaint with the police leading to Chaitezvi and Mandevani’s arrest.
