ZIMBABWE – Fungai Tega 32, was initially sentenced to five months in prison before two were suspended for five years whilst the remaining three were suspended on condition that he performs 105 hours of unpaid work for the benefit of the society at Highfield clinic.
This was after he had pleaded guilty to charges of physical abuse when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Shelly Zvenyika.
Appearing for the State Prosecutor Vincent Chikerema proved that, on December 31 at around 6pm Fungai took his sister Christine Tega’s bath soap and went to the bathroom.
This did not go down well with Christine and she told him to return her soap since he had a habit of not buying his own bathing soap.
The two started shouting at each other.
In ire, Fungai pushed Christine and she fell down hurting her hand and Fungai start hit her head against the wall and she sustained a cut on the head.
She fled and sought help from their neighbors, she then lodged a complaint with the police leading to Fungai’s arrest.
