HARARE – Sungura maestro Alick Macheso is set to release a new album in June, with a promise to his fans of a polished product. Macheso’s 12th album will coincide with his birthday celebrations on the 10th of June. Macheso, who performed in Chipinge this weekend, told ZBC News that his band is still working on the yet to be named 6-track album.
“On 10 June, which happens to be my birthday, we are going to give our fans the long-awaited album. We are still finaling and when its time we will reveal the name,” he said.

He, however, lamented the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the music industry.
“I am happy to have perfomed here in Chipinge after two years. As artists we have been severely affected the lockdown restrictions because without love shows we can’t earn anything.”
Macheso who has not released a full album since 2018, has been dropping a few singles including the hit Zuro ndizuro.
