HARARE – Former Zanu-PF youth leader and Chipangano ring leader turned whistleblower, Jim Kunaka is set to know the judgement on his bail appeal on Thursday after Justice Tawanda Chitapi informed his lawyers that the ruling will be ready by then.
Kunaka has been in custody since December where he was arrested for allegedly inciting people to participate in the 31st July Anti-Corruption protests.
The demonstrations were quashed after the state security swiftly moved in and arrested key organisers and supporters of the movement.
He is being represented by Munyaradzi Bwanya from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights(ZLHR).
Kunaka became popular when he appeared before the Motlanthe led Commission of Inquiry into the post-election violence where he exposed Zanu-PF’s terror activities.
During the hearings, he vividly narrated how his former party used to send youths disguised as police officers to attack opposition members and other civil society organisations.
