BULAWAYO – The water crisis in Bulawayo has further worsened as council can only supply water to only two suburbs, out of nearly one hundred suburbs, per day.
The Provisional Water Supply Restoration Strategy had outlined that residents are supposed to receive water supply once every week from 5pm to the following morning. However, water now comes in the middle of the night and dry up by 8am
Council has effectively abandoned the 144 hour weekly water shedding schedule.
Currently, the mining, industrial and city center are exempted from water cuts.
The City’s Town Clerk admitted that the situation was posing a very huge challenge for the local authority.
Boreholes are reportedly drying up and residents are complaining that council does not seem to have a solution to the deepening situation.
