JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – The African National Congress’ integrity commission has recommended that the party’s Secretary General, Ace Magashule steps down from pending the outcome of the investigations into the corruption case against him.
Magashule is accused of corruptly awarding tenders worth millions of Rands to private companies for the removal of asbestos from low cost homes in Free State during his reign as the head of the Provincial Government.
However, he denies the allegations.
“The rules requiring party members who are
facing formal corruption charges to
step aside pending the outcome of
court processes must be followed,” said the report.
The final decision on the recommendation will be made by the executive committee.
