ZIMBABWE – A city man miserably complained that his wife separated with him for failing to find money for a better living.
This came to light at the Harare civil court, where Knowledge Mukwanhi dragged her ex-wife Bethel Dzimano, seeking for a maintenance downward variation.
Knowledge says that he was hardly surviving in urban area and accused Bethel that she left him after failing to make ends meet.
“I am seeking for a maintenance downward variation from US$70 to US$25.
“The days I am hardly surviving because i have no income.
“I used to sell beads as a vendor but the council confiscated my stock and now I have nowhere to start from.
“Bethel separated with me because my job was no longer paying.
“She knows that I was struggling to get money when she left me.
“Currently I am looking for job because the US$70 maintenance is just too much for me,” said Knowledge.
In response, Bethel said:
“Knowledge designs jackets and he is in a position to manage US$70 maintenance.
“The maintenance was ordered in November 2015 but he has never paid even a cent.
“Now my five year-old child is starting school and money for school fees is needed.”
Magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza, who presided over the matter, dismissed Knowledge’s application.
