HARARE – Twenty-six-year-old Stephanie Travers is a Zimbabwean born Petronas Trackside fluid engineer currently with Mercedes in the Formula One team and the first black woman to stand on the F1 podium.
Born in Harare in 1994, Travers is currently based in the United Kingdom.
She holds B.Eng in Chemical Engineering with Industrial Studies from the University of Bradford, an M.Sc in Advanced Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, and an MBA Essential Certificate from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Travers joined the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team in 2019 having been selected for the post from an application pool of over 7000 candidates, the Daily Star understands.
Last year, she made history by becoming the first black woman to stand on the Formula 1 podium.
Her current role involves analysing the engine oil Petronas Syntium, gearbox oil Petronas Tutela, and the fuel Petronas Primax throughout the F1 race weekend.
