HARARE – Popular Zimdancehall duo, Dj Fantan and Levels have made a public apology for violating national lockdown regulations when they hosted a music bash that drew thousands in Mbare on 31 December 2020.
In a statement, the recently released on bail duo said they were apologising with great shame, humility and regret following their failure to adhere to set regulations.
“We (DJ Fantan and Levels) come before you fellow Zimbabweans with great sense of humility, shame and regret. We unreservedly and wholeheartedly apologise to the Government of Zimbabwe, all stakeholders; the nation at large, the Mbare community, our family members, friends, legion of followers/ fans across the country and beyond our borders for violating the Public Health (Covid-19 Prevention and Containment) regulations when we participated in an unsanctioned music gig on new year’s eve,” said the duo in a statement.
Fantan and Levels further said after introspection, they had decided to use their influence positively in the fight against Covid-19.
“We commit ourselves both as Chillspot Recording Studio Management and individually to support and complement Government and other stakeholder efforts by embarking on a Covid-19 prevention, education and awareness campaigns.
“We now wish to offer ourselves to become Covid-19 youth ambassadors. We hope to use our God-given talents, leverage on our popularity and influence especially among youths to become positive change,” they added.
The duo together was recently released on Z$10 000 bail each pending their appeal against the 12- months jail sentence against them.
