HARARE – Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema said that the reopening of schools will the directed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Ministry is waiting for his directives.
Schools were supposed to open on 28 June for the second terms but , are currently closed in the country due to the increase in COVID19 case.
The reopening was deferred twice by two weeks.
On Thursday after the launch of the Vision of Primary and Secondary Education (VOPSE) 2030 Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Chapter Mathema said people will be informed of the reopening once Mnangagwa has given the green light.
“People will be informed by the President on when the schools have been opened when he has set the date.”
” We are all directed by the His Excellency and we get directives and guidance from him.”
“For now, people must just know that schools will be opened at the time when the President says they will be opened,” he said.
Mathema added that In the meantime, parents have to ensure they prepare their children for the opening of schools by providing them with masks.
Government will do its bit but parents too have to do their bit because Government alone can’t do everything.
