ZIMBABWE – A 23-YEAR-OLD maid has been arraigned before the court on allegations of stealing US$900 from her employer.
Caroline Chisamba pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft when she appeared before Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande.
Reports against Chisamba are that on November 17 at around 8am, Fadzai Mahere left her wallet which had US$900 in her cabinet drawer whilst she left for work leaving the accused alone at home.
It is alleged that upon her return she discovered that her wallet was missing from the drawer when she went to get the money to pay the builders.
Mahere allegedly searched for the wallet but could not find it.
The court heard that Mahere questioned Chisamba about the wallet who then denied ever seeing it.
Mahere lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of Chisamba following her appearance in court.
Tendai Murindagomo represented the State.
Chisamba will appear in court tomorrow for her bail ruling.
