HARARE – Outspoken Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to familiarise himself with the reality and what is happening on the ground.
Mliswa said this on his Twitter account following an address by President Mnangagwa in Mashonaland East where he said his government was engaging the teachers to address the ongoing crisis in the education sector.
“Whilst I appreciate that @edmnangagwa (President Mnangagwa) in MashEast said they’re engaging with the teachers, Your Excellency, Sir, the truth of the matter is that they have nothing left. They’ve no food, can’t get to work etc so really what do we do about it? That’s the reality,” wrote the Norton MP.
Mliswa also questioned government prioritisation of issues referring to the compensation of former white farmers while the education and health sectors remain underfunded.
He added,” WarVets welfare remains unaddressed & yet we’ve prioritised compensating the white farmers.
“Health & the education sectors are still lagging whilst civil servants’ remuneration is a far cry from what it should be & yet they are Government’s engine room.”
