ZIMBABWE – Terrence Nyakunhuwa appeared before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo facing physical abuse charges.
He pleaded guilty to the offence saying that he wanted to teach her a lesson.
“Your worship this woman is disrespectful, she wakes up at dawn and goes to do her ‘piece’ jobs leaving children with no one to care for, she never tells me what she is up to. I am her husband and we stay together she needs to respect me,” he said
He pointed out that he wants to provide for his family so his wife should let him find means even though things are tough.
He was remanded to today for sentencing, meanwhile he has been sent for community service vetting.
The State led by Vincent Chikerema proved that on January 19 in the morning Nyakunhuwa told his wife Caroline Chasara that he did not want her to go around doing piece jobs without his consent.
She told him that she could not let the children starve.
Nyakunhuwa took a belt and whipped her.
She did not sustain any injuries.
Chasara then lodged a complaint with the police leading to Nyakunhuwa’s arrest.
