GWANDA – Government has announced the opening of a 22-bed Covid-19 isolation facility at Phakama Clinic in Gwanda, Matebeleland South province.
Announcing the development, government spokesperson Nick Mangwana said the facility was going to manage mild to severe cases.
“Gwanda
Today, the District Covid 19 Taskforce opened the 22-bed Phakama Clinic Isolation centre for use by Covid19 patients. The facility will manage mild to severe cases which up to this point were being referred to Bulawayo,” wrote Mangwana on his Twitter platform.
This will certainly be a welcome development given that now some cases in Gwanda will be attended locally rather than the strenuous task of having the patients taken to Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe is currently battling with the second wave of the pandemic, to date the country has recorded 34 658 positive cases and 1339 fatalities.
