HARARE – The Harare City Council has announced that there has been an outbreak of typhoid in Glen View.
Glen View is one of the suburbs that has been hit hard by the continued water shortages ravaging the capital.
“Council wishes to inform residents of the presence of four confirmed positive typhoid cases which are already under treatment and responding positively.
“Three cases are children under 7 and a 17 year old all from Glen View 3,” said the statement from the local authority.
Council also advised that is is conducting contact tracing while also urging residents with the symptoms to immediately seek medical attention.
“Council has done contact tracing and is monitoring the contacts. Residents with the following symptoms should present themselves for medical attention: Headache, fever, abdominal pain and constipation or diarrhea.
The persistent water shortages in the City resulted in many vulnerabilities, with reports of water distributors soliciting sexual favours in exchange of water, outbreak of diseases among others.
