ZIMBABWE – A Harare woman has dragged her husband of 12 years to the civil court seeking a protection order after being physically and emotionally abused by him.
Nomatter Matanhire told the court that she had have enough abuse from Webster Matanhire. She told the court that:
“Webster is a very abusive man and is a big threat to me and the children.
“He comes home every night drunk from the bar, he wake the children and begin shouting and insulting them.
“There was a time I initiated a divorce and he went berserk, he told me he would fix me and get even with me.
“He defecates in the house in the presence of our children, and leaves me to deal with his filth.
“I need the court to grant me the protection order because I fear for my life and that of my children because he threatened to kill us if I pursue with the divorce,” said a teary Nomatter.
Webster however decided not to show up at the civil court to give his side of the story as he claimed to have other important matters to take care of.
However magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa who presided over the matter granted Nomatter the protection order
