ZIMBABWE – A city man who separated his wife in a bid to escape house rentals was taken to court by the landlord claiming his rental balances.
Edward Sibanda was dragged to the civil court by his ex-landlord Zacheaus Mashoni. The landlord was claiming USD$120 that Edward owed after separating with his wife in an attempt to dodge responsibility.
“I am claiming my USD$120 from Edward who vacated my house and leaving his wife behind without notice two months ago.
“The wife was left alone with the burden for rentals yet Edward is the responsible tenant for rental payments according to our agreement.
“My requirement is to be issued that money by the end of December,” said Zacheaus.
Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa ordered Edward Sibanda to pay the USD$120 by 31 December.
Meanwhile Zacheaus had a difficult tenant who had a habit of not cooperating on rentals.
Titus Freddy the problematic tenant was up next for a ruling after his counterpart Edward.
The presiding magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa ordered Titus to pay up his rental balance of USD$54 by 31 December.
