ZIMBABWE – A city man abandons his wife to stay with a girlfriend and is reportedly pursuing to sell his matrimonial property to forcefully separate her wife.

Donald Musengezi left his wife Fungai Khumalo to stay with a girlfriend in Kuwadzana due to intense marriage tensions.

This came to light at the Harare civil court where Fungai was seeking for a protection order against Donald.

“I need a protection order against my husband who insults, assaults and harasses me.

“Donald wants to sell our matrimonial house because he has left me and the children to go and stay with her girlfriend.

“He even comes to our house with his girlfriend and potential buyers of the house in my presence just to hurt me.

“Recently, he phoned my mother insulting her and telling her that she should come and take her prostitute denoting me,” she said.

In response, Donald said:

“I want to sell the house and share the money with her so that we go our separate ways.

“She assaulted me as well after I last called her mother and claimed that she was insulted.

“Now I am also claiming my clothes which are at her house,” he said.

Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who presided over the matter, granted the protection order in Fungai’s favour.
