HARARE – The court has dismissed an application by suspended Zifa board executive members Felton Kamambo and Philemon Machana for the relaxation of their bail conditions to enable them to travel to Qatar for the FIFA congress set for this Friday. Kamambo and Machana had applied for the temporary release of their passports which they surrendered as part of their bail conditions in a case which they are accused of illegally conducting ZIFA business while on suspension.
The two, who were also barred from communicating with FIFA, also sought the relaxation of their bail conditions to allow for them to travel to Qatar for the FIFA congress set for this Friday.
Harare regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje dismissed the application saying that the two would not suffer any prejudice if they did not attend the 72nd FIFA congress.
In their application, the pair argued that they hoped to save Zimbabwe from a fully-fledged ban by the world football governing body.
Zimbabwe was suspended by Fifa over third party interference after the suspension of the Zifa board by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) over a number of allegations.
