HARARE – Machakos University in Kenya is set to launch a degree in witchcraft becoming the second institution to offer the same globally.
This was confirmed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor who said the course had already attracted interests.
It is set to be launched in April 2021 and will be housed under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences subject to approval by the Commission for University Education.
“We have a lot of indigenous knowledge in the wider Machakos County which can be harnessed for the good of the society and this is the first step towards mainstreaming this knowledge. We hope that young people and new generation will take advantage of this course so that important historical and cultural information is not lost.”
Lecturers who will take up the new course will be drawn from a number of areas includin Zanzibar, Mexico and Haiti.
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions with some terming it a joke.
