HARARE – High Court Judge Justice Foroma on Tuesday postponed Allan Moyo’s bail appeal to Friday 22 January 2021.
Moyo (23), a University of Zimbabwe student has been in custody since his arrest on 7 December last year on allegations of inciting the public to commit violence after he called on to revolt against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.
The State alleges that on the 3rd of July 2020, Moyo incited some commuters at Copacabana bus terminus by telling them to revolt against the current government because it had failed the country.
Commenting after submitting the arguments for the bail appeal, Moyo’s lawyer Obey Shava said the judge
“I can say that we presented the best argument that we could under the circumstances and the State was not in a position to respond to the merits. It (the State) raised some preliminary objections which the judge would want to consider before we can proceed with the matter on Friday the 22nd of January.
“So we are coming back on Friday after the judge would have gone through the preliminary objections raised by the State,” said Shava.
