ZIMBABWE – A 35-year-old man has appeared in court on allegations of stealing 120 packets of corn snacks and strewing down the other 200 packets in a bid to recover his money.
Wingrow Chivanga is said to have invaded Fortunate Chimanga’s shop whilst she was away and committed took the corn snacks claiming that she owed him money.
He is alleged to have taken the other unpacked snacks estimated to be about 200 packets and strew them all over the floor, the court heard.
Chivanga denied allegations of theft and malicious damage to property when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Kudzai Zihove.
He was remanded to December 15 for trial, on free bail.
Allegations are that on November 15 at around 7am Chimanga left her work place going to Bindura leaving 500packets of corn snacks.
Chivanga is alleged to have gone to her shop thereafter and committed the offence saying that he had taken snacks that were equivalent to the money that Chimanga owed him.
The total prejudice is US$256.
When Chimanga came back and noticed that her snacks had been tempered with she asked her employees what had happened and they told to her that Chivanga was responsible.
She then lodged a complaint with the police leading to Chivanga’s arrest.
