ZIMBABWE – A 43-year-old man is standing accused of raping his step-daughter on separate occasions for 10 cents on each encounter.
Lawrence Stamasi, of No.802 Kambuzuma Section 3, Harare, yesterday appeared at the Harare magistrates’ court facing two counts of rape.
The girl, whose name has been withheld for legal reasons, is nine years old.
Stamasi was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe who remanded him in custody to February 25 for trial.
Magistrate Mahwe also advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
Sharon Mashavira, prosecuting, had it that sometime in December last year Stamasi woke at night and proceeded to the dining room where the girl was asleep.
It is said the 43-year-old awoke his step-daughter and gave her 10 cents.
He also allegedly undressed the girl and forced her to lie on her stomach and raped her.
The girl did not disclose the sexual offence to anyone.
On another separate day but during the same month, Stamasi also woke up and proceeded to the room where the girl was sleeping along with her brother.
It is said he undressed the girl and raped her.
Reports are that Stamasi ejaculated on the girl before wiping the semen with a towel.
The matter came to light on January 26 this year after the girl revealed the sexual abuses at the hands of her step father leading to his arrest.
