ZIMBABWE – A city man is reportedly busy up keeping his girlfriend’s children whilst neglecting his own child.

Tarangiofa Mawuto is supposedly staying with his girlfriend at the expense of her ex-wife Rumbidai Chiona and their minor child apparently on maintenance.

This was revealed at the Harare civil court where Mawuto was pursuing to withdraw the maintenance he was paying for his child with Chiona.

“I am seeking for a maintenance discharge.

“This is because I am facing financial constraints that my earnings are not enough to pay maintenance.

“I am also taking care of my elderly mother and we were evicted from the house we used to stay, so the burden is just too much on me,” said Mawuto.

In response, Chiona said:

“Mawuto is not taking care of my children but he is up keeping his girlfriend’s children and their mother.

“We used to stay together at the school premises where he was working, but we were evicted from there since he was violent to me.

“He assaulted and insulted me, with an aim of spiting me, so that I give up our marriage and the girlfriend takes over.

“I am pleading as well that he keeps on paying mantainance for our child’s welfare,” she said.

Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who presided over the matter, ordered a maintenance downward variation from US$120 to US$70 starting from January 2016.
