ZIMBABWE – Cliana Zvirevo, 25, told the court that Taurai Zivengwa had been violent since they started living as husband and wife.
Zivengwa pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Anita Tshuma charged with physical abuse.
Zivengwa will be back in court on February 11 for sentencing.
The state proved that on January 30, Zvirevo and Tavengwa had a misunderstanding after there were suspicions if infidelity.
The court heard that Zvirevo suspected Tavengwa was having an extra marital affair and asked him.
Tavengwa turned violent and slapped Zvirevo who went on to pack her belongings and left for her sister’s house.
On February 1 Zvirevo decided to go back to her marital home.
When she arrived home Tavengwa had not arrived back home from work.
When Tavengwa arrived he asked why Zvirevo had returned and turned violent and slapped Zvirevo.
Zvirevo told the court that Tavengwa reached for a container with frozen water and hit her.
Zvirevo managed to find her way out and lodged a complaint with the police leading to Tavengwa’s arrest.
