When a mother get old, it is usually the duty of her elder children to care and protect her, this is not the case for a Harare woman who took her son to the civil court because he physically abuse her.
Elizabeth Nyamombe told the court that her son, Tonderai Nyamombe is making her life miserable with his constant abuse.
“Tonderai is my biological son but he is making my life a living hell, after his father passed away I thought he will automatically assume the duties of a father because he is my only son.
“This is not the case because he insults me and beat me whenever he returns home from the beer hall. He accuses me of killing his father saying that I am a witch and a prostitute.
“My prayer to the court is to grant me the protection order and I don’t want him near my home since he is self-sustainable,” she said.
In response Tonderai said:
“I regret everything I have done to my mum. I never intended to hurt her in any ways. I am truly sorry,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa granted the protection order in favour of Elizabeth Nyamombe.
